As a student living on campus, what are my dining plan options?

Our On-campus Dining Plans are designed to be flexible and convenient. They can be used at any of our 10 residential dining halls, and offer a Combo-X-Change once per day, Monday - Friday. The Combo-X-Change is available at Sparty's, Union Pizzeria, Union Deli, Serrano's, UP Pizzeria at Crossroads Food Court, Riverwalk Market at Owen Hall, the award-winning Eat at State ON-THE-GO food truck or for takeout from the dining halls.

Where can I eat on campus?

There are plenty of great food destinations right here on campus. No matter what you're craving, Eat at State has options for you.

What is a COMBO-X-CHANGE?

Combo-X-Change allows dining plan holders to use a meal access for a combo at Sparty’s, Union Pizzeria, Union Deli, Serrano's, Riverwalk Market at Owen Hall, the Eat at State ON-THE-GO food truck, UP Pizzeria at Crossroads Food Court, or for takeout in the dining halls Monday through Friday.

On-campus students may use Combo-X-Chance once per day, Monday through Friday, and off-campus students and faculty and staff may use Combo-X-Change multiple times.

If I live off campus, can I still purchase a dining plan?

Yes, of course! Students living off-campus or commuting to MSU can purchase a dining plan. Off-campus Dining Plans can be used in any of our 10 residential dining halls and offers Combo-X-Change to use at Sparty's, Union Pizzeria, Union Deli, Serrano's, Riverwalk Market at Owen Hall and the Eat at State ON-THE-GO food truck.

Unused meals roll over to the next semester and no longer expire as long as your MSU ID is active. To keep your plan active, you must use at least one meal between July 1 and June 30.

Off-campus students have a choice of five dining plans:

  1. DineOn 175
  2. DineOn 125
  3. DineOn 100
  4. DineOn 50
  5. DineOn 25

I'm a faculty/staff member. Are there dining plans for me?

Faculty and staff can purchase the DineOn 10+ at a rate of $6.25 per meal plus tax, with a minimum purchase of 10 meals. The meals can be used in any of our nine residential dining halls or as a Combo-X-Change at Sparty's, Union Pizzeria, Union Deli, Serrano's, Riverwalk Market at Owen Hall and the Eat at State ON-THE-GO food truck. Unused meals roll over to the next semester and do not expire as long as the dining plan is active. For the dining plan to remain active, you must use at least one meal between July 1 and June 30.

I don't need a dining plan. Can I still eat at the dining halls?

Of course! The public is welcome to dine with us at any of our residential dining halls. All locations accept cash, Spartan Cash and credit cards. You're also welcome to purchase Eat at State Bucks. For more information about door rates and hours, visit www.eatatstate.com/diningoncampus.

What if I have food allergies or other special dietary needs?

Each dining hall on campus offers a variety of meal options, including vegetarian and vegan dishes.

Where can I use my Spartan Cash?

Spartan Cash can be used in all on-campus laundry facilities, at Crossroad Food Court and MSU Union Food Court, Olin Health Center, Wharton Center, Eat at State locations and more, as well as a variety of off-campus retailers. For a complete list, view the Spartan Cash Locations.

How do I purchase a dining plan?

You can purchase a dining plan using any of the methods below:

Who do I contact about more information for dining on campus or employment?

What do I do if I want to change my dining plan?

On-campus dining plans are included in each student's housing contract. To change your on-campus dining plan, contact the Housing Assignments office (HAO):

Are all students required to have a dining plan?

Dining plans are automatically added to room and board for students living on campus except students living in University Village, Van Hoosen and Williams Halls. Other students including off-campus students are encouraged to purchase a dining plan for convenience and value.

Can I take food with me out of the dining hall?
